Bolivar's Park is an urban park located right in downtown area of the Colombian city of Medellín (Antioquia). Opened in 1892 and named in honor of the liberator Simon Bolivar, but it was not until 1923 that was placed around its center the statue of the hero, the Italian sculptor Giovanni Anderlini and also melted by the Italian sculptor Eugenio Maccagnani.
The park is two blocks, there is approximately 10,395 square feet of area, distributed between green areas and paved and has a dense and varied planting trees, with many native species. It also has within its furniture, with benches, water fountain, sculptures and other typical elements found in a public space like this.
The sad part is that it used to be a place filled with people telling stories and many turists that would enjoy being there, but now it is filled with people from the streets which has made it a very insecure place. (John Wilfer Ramirez)
ResponderEliminarBefore it was a good gathering place for locals, now there is only fear

So there are institutions who want to recover these spaces, but so Bolivar's Park doesn't lose its essence, even people sees it as a cultural epicenter of the city.
