The Metropolitan Cathedral.

The Metropolitan Cathedral, officially called "Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception of Mary" is the temple of the city of Medellin.

Designed by French architect Charles Émile Carré, the construction took 41 years and has been a religious symbol of Bolivar's Park.

It was declared a national monument in 1982 and is the largest building in Medellin, with approximately 1,120,000 bricks in its structure. Is 66 feet in its two towers and 6,078 meters square area.

It also has a small museum of religious art, located in a room adjacent to the basilica, which is not open to the public for apparent security reasons. The collection includes about 40 paintings (XVII, XVIII and XIX) and 15 sculptures (XVIII and XIX).
